expert survey

Duration: Feb - Aug 2014

We are currently planning a study about effects of the parental transition on children and family dynamics. Especially for children, the effects of and the mechanisms for adjusting with the parental transition are insufficiently researched. For the vast majority of these children, the situation they find themselves in does not compare to anything they or their peers have experienced before. Our research endeavor consists of 3 different parts, namely a media analysis and an expert survey, followed by our main study.

The research project is part of a medical dissertation of Silvano Barbieri and Jonas Björklund (medical students) at the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (Germany). Cooperating institutes are the Department of Sexual Research and Forensic Psychiatry as well as the Department of Medical Psychology.

Overview of our main study

All participants (gender variant person, partner, child) of the main study will be asked to complete an online-questionnaire followed by a semi-structured interview. The questionnaire and the interview are focussed on the individual experience of the transition by the parent, the partner/ spouse and the child/ children.

Expert survey

Dear experts,

In order to identify potential key-areas and to gather expert input on the topic we would very much appreciate your time for a preliminary expert survey on the topic. The expert survey should take about an hour and can be conducted via telephone, Skype or at the WPATH-Symposium in Bangkok at your convenience.

Please contact us in order to find a suitable time for you.

If you would like to assist us with your expert opinion, yet do not have the time or resources for an interview, we would appreciate it if you took part in our online survey.

If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact us at any time.

Thank you in advance!
